THREE POEMS from BREE
SMOKING NO ONE'S TRAFFIC

And the snow has made quite
a scene. Every rubber-coated
keg -top is a face, or
a painting:::

moon mouths
or plastic cup print
a bird feet made
mustache

drawn out under
barlight, and the smoking's
good/every square foot
a perfectly painted someplace
i stand

in what burying degrees
we gots
outside the Spider

cold Cleve. and a smoke no
conversation. noone taking me
into their traffic.no traffic anyhow,
the sirens are
at rest and there is no movement.

no camera. nothing
to snap, wakening.
no A.M. or P.M.
P.M. or FM
EPHEMERAL
AFFIRMATIVE
aural imperatives
missing from the scene.

(no alarm clock baby).
