jesus girl said, she’s had it
working and selling drugs
only ones for mind expansion
no, not for the money –
today jumped on a bus
messy blond mop top
headed to new york, memphis
then texas
to help locate a grave
the mother of a friend
who had never found
the blues in those place
jesus girl’ll look
for a lost parent
anywhere
but yesterday
tripped twice, jesus, girl –
so like a miracle,
needing to be held
our collective souls, age
like sand lost through our fingertips
