Ten
Poems by Leonardo Dellarocca
A weeping
man stands beneath a dogwood tree.
A woman appRoaches with a basket of pears.
A physicist, sad with disenchantment,
sits on the steps of a ruined library.
Far away in olive trees, a boy
swings orange and yellow nets
beneath quiet sparrows.
The Madonna pauses at her harp.
A young girl with orchids in her hair
pours water from a white vase
into a wooden bowl.
There are bees swarming in the honeysuckle.
A storm begins to bruise summer.
All of them hear the bell in the tower.
