Contrary to popular belief,
two things an older man
can't handle are
loose women and hard nuts.
The first races past us
while we're still bent over
picking up the keys
and the second will most assuredly
chip a tooth
or what's left of those brittle
extensions of our inner architecture,
the highways on which
our youth sped
and now struggles to maintain.
