TWO DREAMS

Janus, where were your hands were
they two I would have
had the one to have the double-edged
meaning etched into the skin of
memory, the
epidermis would have emerged
in words, the hypodermis exposed
their meaning and had I had only
one word in a single palm, a thing you
said, that would bring back you for
an entire instant it would have been the
world.

Nina Sokol is a poet and translator with a Master’s degree in English from Copenhagen University.
