MT. SINAI BEACH: WINTER SCENE

The boats are up on blocks crowding
the boat yard as if huddling for warmth.
A torn tarp flaps in the north wind.
A few dinghies dot the shallow beach.
There is a single car in the parking lot.
It faces the sound; a couple looks out
at the white caps and swirls of sand
stirred up by the wind. They are silent,
listening to the wind buffet the car.
He reaches out for her hand. She
grasps it. He puts his arm around her
and she leans against him. He turns.
They kiss and kiss again. He reaches
under her coat for her breast. She
whispers, “Let’s go where it is
more comfortable.”
