A precious gift:  an entire day
with my daughter to walk along
the beach, sneakers leaving
designer prints in the wet sand.

We stand, listen to conversations
of  stones washed by foamy edge
of bay water, restless remarks
about things only beach spirits know.

Our conversation is easy, sometimes
we stop to hug when words deepen
our connection. Blazing sun begins
its descent, we turn back to meet
blurred prints on the way home.
