SCOLIOSIS TUESDAY |
white coat travels
a backbone of Connecticut roads
to the fish spine of Long Island
scoliosis day
always Tuesday
specialist corrects
straightens
here on Tuesdays
week’s nether
world
a regret away from Sunday
Tuesday’s X-ray
reveals an S-curve
twisted cloverleaf
that will squeeze out your heart
if not braced
stretched out in sleep
like a backyard nightshade
Tuesday
always sagging hope when there is little progress
always mommy optimism when the next appointment is made
pizza always after
you tell me you are
a crooked little girl
uneven
out of friendship
always slouching towards
a hint of slope
insolvable math equation
I tell you Tuesdays will end
bones will fuse
all truth is slanted
back
