FALL/ WINTER 2013

Robert Savino

NO STRANGER

 She takes off her dress
like she did when we were kids,
like she did where we once lived.

The twinkle of stars reflect
off gold earrings, images
of only what she believes to be.

She should know better now.
An empty house hides no secrets.
The clock no longer has hands.

Some illusions fall away
like dead leaves at seasons end
for a widow in the window.
