DIVING INTO THE POOL

It’s not a piercing sound
something cutting or sharp
it’s mellower than that
a body displacing water
breaking the cool surface
sinking into cool blue depths
splashes pocking the rippling surface
children churning the water white
their laughter splashing
the rippled air.

It’s not a piercing sound
something cutting or sharp
it’s mellower than that
a body displaced
in the depths of another
sinking into warmth and light
sparkles pocking the rippling surface
churning the water white
and splashing
the rippling air.

Diving into the pool
a body displaces
possibility.
