BLUE MARBLE EARTH |
We found our brother’s treasure
tucked away, waiting
for his return to finger them
a scruffy bag full of marbles
among which was the one
I admired most
a shiny bauble
with glaze of vivid blue
and swirling milky ribbons
like clouds passing
on a sunny day
so like the photos of Earth
taken by satellites
roaming above.
We mark our place
within the space
between the sky and land or sea
but that “Pale Blue Dot”
captured by Voyager 1
searching through the stars
never heading home
produced a sense of being there
but standing here, emphasizing
the firefly flicker of our lives
just like his.
