Gary Lawless

UNTITLED

In Sicily I want to
eat and drink and
walk along the shore with
my arm around you,
and fall asleep happy.
Which is more beautiful,
the volcano or
the Greek column
in ruins?

Who cares if we've had too much wine -
we're walking toward Tunis,
there are temples on the ridgeline,
and the wind tastes like sand.

Gary Lawless is co-owner of Gulf of Maine Bookstore (in Brunswick, Maine) and editor/publisher of Blackberry Books. He has recently taken part in poetry festivals and readings in Italy, Slovenia, Latvia and Lithuania. His book, Caribouddhism, was translated into Italian and published in Napoli, as Caribudismo.
