Translations - George Wallace

Emilio Adolfo Westphalen

POEM

A beautiful representation of love
Should always be exactly the same
It should repeat itself again and again
In this way lovers can reproduce their passion
Precisely, indefinitely, every time
The same gestures
The same movements
The same noise of kisses
The same undulations
Subsequently the supremely intense
Cinematographic reproduction
Of all their successive
Acts of coitus
May be placed in a little box
On a table, perhaps, or on the wall
And could serve as
A regulatory instrument
For the march of time
You could call it
"Clock of Love."
