Lynne Thompson

MY LIFE ACCORDING TO QUINCY TROUPE

 snake-back carrier of dreams
thunderclapping music, somersaulting
wisdom searching for open doors
like a sunset gone into sea
gri-gri stone eater of broken lightbulbs
                  penetrating the dark
alone, like a panther, all luminous,
& hope a hole in the sky, a red omen moon
in the bone & blood spirit of gut-bucket blues
combing back through my memories

Lynne Thompson is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Beg No Pardon, winner of the Perugia Press Prize and the Great Lakes Colleges Association’s New Writers Award, and Start With A Small Guitar (What Books Press). In 2015, she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the City of Los Angeles where she resides.
