I’ve watched you
from day one
growing Babel-high
a world-wonder from the train
and all around
the clouds love you
as much as I do
they cradle your tall head
pillow your young eyes
now you’re the finished thing
unexpected
from all angles of London
piercing skyline
eye-line
as if you’re jumping
from here to there all the time
London Bridge to far miles away
how do you get yourself there I ask
so in love with you
I can’t spell my own name
I love you Shard
from the hotel in your shoes
to the red beacon that glows
at your shardish crown
like god’s ever-lit bulldog-breed cigar
