PORT OF CALL MERCHANT AFTER A STORM

presence
the delight of moist skin
easy in the sand salt waves
shoulders, eyes, unarmed devotion
the still gray fingers
of early light

a breakfast
of open sandwiches
captives fled from deeper servitude
hollow gestures, distaste
to now, to this
a remembrance of base living

the ocean strand
behind the streetlight
your breasts there
the cheerful
i like the way you bubble
when we pop smile

o then, o that morning and you
your wet sweetness
diamond bright

you a lark
you a lesson
you a lion’s share
