MEDICALLY INDUCED HALLELUJAH |
Injected, supine on a squeaky cot
I wait for the wave of a queasy hallelujah
The drip drip static infusion
in sync with the piped in gospel music
My Shema softer than the voice behind the curtain
I bend mid waist and pray, abstain from saying grace
On a golden calf I do the math
equations of faith and circumstance
A skinny ginger poses in a lotus. strokes her downward dog
Painting fabricated peace, she secretes translucent love
I grab a tab of Messiah complex on the only way out
Withdrawing from blind faith I shake away all godly possibility
A medley of mayhem wind lands me on my ass
my heavenly path spills open
l limp a sideways mile, stop at a shoemaker's roadside stand
hand him a crumpled ten; earnings from the lab
Ask him to mend my Converse sneakers
